Conqueror's Blade Overview
Conqueror's Blade is a real-time tactical MMORPG and free-to-play.
It allows you to embody a warlord accompanied by their battalion.
Conqueror's Blade is mainly a PvP game, often featuring 30 warlords in 15v15 siege-style epic battles.
Available Weapons
Let's get more specific about the available weapons.
At the time of writing this article, Conqueror's Blade has 12 playable classes (10 available from the start and 2 unlockable).
We'll go through them quickly:
The short sword & shield is basically a tank with lots of control, serving as the front line to open a path or block advances.
The long sword & shield is also a tank but more support-oriented. It can cast acceleration or even healing skills affecting nearby allies.
The spear, a very mobile weapon dealing good damage, allows you to target heroes. Note: the spear is not very durable.
The longbow, essentially the sniper of Conqueror's Blade. Its role is to take out key units and finish off fleeing heroes.
The shortbow, closer to combat, is more agile than the longbow and allows continuous assaults on enemy heroes.
The hammer, a heavy class, focuses on clearing units and heroes using devastating combos.
The musket, a mid-range DPS, can deploy area-of-effect attacks to disrupt and slow enemies.
The nodachi, a weapon that deals area damage and has lifesteal abilities.
The lance, a deadly mounted DPS weapon, is primarily focused on dealing damage.
Dual blades, equipped with light armor and two daggers, are Conqueror's Blade assassins. They aim to sneak behind enemy lines to eliminate heroes or key units.
The guandao, another DPS class with some interesting control skills.
The war axe, a heavy class capable of controlling a target for a long time, giving strategic advantage.
The chain dagger and scimitar represent the second assassin class, featuring many control abilities and high mobility.
Customizing Your Character
In addition to your weapon, Conqueror's Blade allows you to customize your character using various mechanisms.
Attributes
As in many MMORPGs, attributes allow your hero to specialize, for example in damage reduction, piercing damage, blunt damage, or health. You choose the optimal distribution.
Gear
Like in any respectable MMORPG, Conqueror's Blade has a gear system, mainly obtainable via
crafting. Crafting relies on a random roll system, requiring many attempts to obtain optimized gear unless you get lucky.
Runes
Each gear piece can hold
runes, boosting attributes or even modifying skills, adding another level of customization.
Skins
No free-to-play game discussion is complete without skins. Conqueror's Blade allows you to apply skins to your hero, changing appearance without affecting stats. Many options are available for different tastes.
*Rixmome* Heyyyy, are you trying to fool me?! Your game looks just like all the others; I see no difference!
I'm getting there! Conqueror's Blade stands out not because of its hero system but because of its unit system. Your hero is accompanied by multiple battalions deployed according to the situation.
Conqueror's Blade Unit System
Unit Types
Let's quickly introduce the unit types:
- Cavalry, which can charge destructively from the flanks or rear for light cavalry, or head-on for heavy cavalry.
- Pikemen, primarily to stop cavalry.
- Archers or arquebusiers, dealing ranged damage or providing cover to melee units.
- Shock units, meant to impact enemy blocks or reach distant units.
- Shields, providing cover to allies.
- Hero killers, like javelins or assassin units.
- Support units (healers or pipers), granting benefits to surrounding units.
- Exotic units, falling into various categories, crucial for defeating enemies. Examples include flamethrowers against blocks or falconets with cannons for long-range damage.
Interestingly, all units can evolve. They have mechanics allowing specialization. Let's review these mechanics briefly.
Unit Upgrade Mechanics
Unit Level and Veteran Status
A unit gains levels; with each level, it gains stats and can specialize via veteran status, potentially boosting stats or adding effects to skills.
Unit Doctrines
Doctrines further specialize units by increasing certain stats.
Unit Skins
Like heroes, units can wear skins, making them look more impressive or visually docile.
*rixmome* Okayyy, seems like some unique stuff. But will you tell us about the activities someday?
You're right! I haven’t talked about activities yet. Let's take a quick look.
Conqueror's Blade Activities
PvP Activities
Sieges
As mentioned, sieges are 15v15 battles plus units, totaling roughly 1000 vs 1000.
Players are split into attackers and defenders. Attackers capture map points, defenders defend them.
Skirmishes
In open terrain, no attacker/defender. Capture points or kill enemies to reduce their score.
The first to zero or with the least points when the timer ends loses.
Deathmatches
Here there are no units, only two teams of warlords. The team that kills enough enemies first wins.
Free Battles
Free battles are either skirmishes or sieges, with larger troops and no unit maintenance cost.
Ranked Battles
Like free battles, ranked can be siege or skirmish, with different artillery rules and seasonal rankings for rewards.
Intercepts
In the open world, you can intercept other players with their units for fun or to steal resources.
*Rixmome* Wait, there’s an open world and you didn’t mention it?! Do you think I have all day?!
Exactly! I wanted to save the best for last. We’ll discuss this with the 5th PvP activity: GvG or territory wars.
Territory Wars
GvG occurs Tuesdays and Saturdays from 8:00 to 9:30 PM. Guilds (or houses) aim to conquer territories, alone or in alliance, and defend them.
Epic battles, betrayal, and coalitions are part of this highly strategic activity.
The format is mainly 15v15 sieges. When a player dies, they leave the battle and are replaced by another guild or alliance member, allowing over 100 players in the same battle.
Tournaments
If GvG isn’t enough, tournaments offer different rules to face top Conqueror's Blade players.
Examples:
- CBR, a player-created league similar to a football league with different teams and divisions. Matches are on Sundays with Twitch commentary in English and French.
- CBL, the official Conqueror's Blade tournament, a classic knockout format broadcast on the official Twitch channel.
- Cortournament, organized by players in double-elimination format with the 8 best CBR teams, also streamed on Twitch in French and English.

Back to PvE activities.
Conqueror's Blade is mainly PvP, but some PvE activities exist. Let's review them quickly.
Bandit Raids
Team up with other players to attack a village or fort defended by AI. Your goal is to defeat the AI in a set time. Not very difficult but gives unit XP.
Expeditions
Three difficulty levels. Similar to bandit raids, but you face waves of enemies or capture points.
Bandit Camps
Found on the world map, capture points against AI. Three difficulty levels: easy, medium, hard. Rewards include items for fief quests.
AI Battles
For new players to fight AI and learn the game.
Surrounding Bandits
In the open world, bandits can intercept you. Battle resembles a skirmish against AI.
Events
Last mode: events, either PvP or PvE.
Each season introduces new activities and maps with gameplay changes.
For example, at the time of writing, we are in the Coliseum season with a new coliseum map and new mechanics.
Conqueror's Blade Seasons
Speaking of which, let's quickly talk about seasons.
Every 2-4 months, a new update brings new units, modes, maps, possibly classes, mechanics, skins, and GvG map resets. The game stays very active.
Monetization
Conqueror's Blade is free-to-play without limitations.
There is an in-game shop for visuals for your hero, horse, and units. Good news: the game is not pay-to-win. Premium accounts just allow slightly faster progression.
Conclusion
Conqueror's Blade is innovative, especially with its battalion system accompanying the hero. Territory wars add strategic and political depth. A great game to play with friends for many hours.
