Hey my zoulous and welcome to this new article.
Today we're going to talk about a particular battle royale that focuses mainly on melee combat: Naraka: Bladepoint.

What is Naraka?

First of all, what is Naraka?
Naraka is primarily a battle royale game where up to 60 players can fight each other. The game became free-to-play in July 2023, making it a great opportunity to try it out—especially since it can be played in duo or even trio. In addition, the game is cross-platform, available on PC via Steam, Epic Games, or the game’s own launcher, as well as on Xbox via Game Pass and PlayStation 5.

Of course, like any battle royale, the goal is to be the last survivor—either by fighting honorably and engaging as many enemy teams as possible, or by using cunning tactics and waiting until the end of duels to pick up the leftovers.

*Rixmome* I bet you’ve got no honor at all!

True, I try to take advantage of every opportunity. It’s up to you to decide which strategy you want to adopt.

Naraka: starting a match

Let’s get back to our topic with the start of a match. Concretely, the first thing you’ll do is choose a hero. Each hero has their own skills, allowing them to gain an advantage in certain situations. Let’s take Viper as an example: this hero specializes in crowd control and can unleash an energy wave to knock down enemies.
She can also use her ultimate ability which, after a short time, will stun visible enemies. Overall, I recommend trying out all the heroes to find the one—or ones—that suit you best.

Once your hero is selected, you’ll decide the approximate location where you’ll spawn. Some areas are more interesting than others, especially the yellow zones, but they are also more dangerous since more players are likely to spawn there.

It’s up to you whether you want to fight early at the risk of being eliminated quickly, or if you prefer to gear up as much as possible before your first fights.

An interesting note about this BR: if you die fairly early in the match, you’ll have the opportunity to respawn once, which helps avoid the frustration of having done nothing.

Alright, the preparation timer is over—it’s time to jump into the game.

Naraka: Types of equipment

First type of equipment: weapons

Like in most battle royales, you’ll need to find equipment, which makes for a perfect transition to the first type of gear: weapons.

In Naraka, there are two types of weapons.
Melee weapons and ranged weapons.
There is a fairly wide variety, ranging from dual blades to spears, including flamethrowers, bows, and many others.

Overall, I recommend having one ranged weapon to harass enemies before a fight, and filling the rest of your inventory with melee weapons.

Each weapon has its own specific traits. For example, the greatsword deals heavy damage but is rather slow, while the dagger is extremely fast.
Each weapon also has its own combos. It’s up to you to find the one that fits you best.

Second type of equipment: Qi Jades

The second type of equipment is Qi Jades.
Qi Jades allow you to modify your hero’s statistics, alter certain combos, or even gain new abilities.
For a more in-depth explanation, I recommend checking out the tutorial dedicated to this topic.

Third type of equipment: consumables

The third type of equipment is consumables.
These are the items you’ll store to heal yourself, recharge your shield, repair your weapons, and use grappling hooks. Managing this inventory properly is crucial if you want to survive an entire match.

A quick focus on the grappling hook: it’s a very useful tool that allows you to move around extremely fast, but also to grapple enemies and briefly immobilize them.

NARAKA: activities

Important information: Naraka’s main activity is the battle royale mode, but there are also other modes available, such as deathmatch—where the goal is to get as many kills as possible—or the story mode called Conquest, where you’ll fight various monsters while following a storyline. The list is obviously not exhaustive.

NARAKA: business model

Regarding the business model, Naraka is completely free with no limitations. However, there is an in-game shop that allows you to obtain cosmetic items for your character, your weapons, and various other elements. Character customization is also very advanced, with hundreds of different parameters covering many aspects. Some community members have even managed to recreate faces of characters from other universes.
If you enjoy this kind of content, you’re in for a treat.
