Hey everyone, and welcome to this new video! Here we're going to talk about starting a new account on Conqueror's Blade, and we'll focus on the hero in this video! If you're here, it's probably because you're about to start Conqueror's Blade, or maybe you've already started but want some guidance on your progress.
Character Creation
First, after a rather stylish cutscene, you'll create your character. The creation process is fairly standard; there are a few nice customization options, but nothing groundbreaking.
Once you've created your character, you'll be immediately thrown into combat. Don't worry, it's just the tutorial.
*Rixmome* But I haven't chosen my class yet, have I forgotten something?
No, not since Conqueror's Blade Season 17. Every player who joins the game will be equipped with a guandao. This weapon, being heavily armored and dealing area-of-effect damage, is quite suitable for beginners. However, you can of course change it later by completing quests or by visiting the armorer once you've progressed far enough in your adventure quests.
Conqueror's Blade classes
The available classes are:
- Short sword, in heavy armor, which is a kind of secondary tank
- Guandao, in heavy armor, area-of-effect DPS class
- Longsword, in heavy armor, that can heal and tank a lot
- Lance, in medium armor more effective on horseback
- Musket, in medium armor, specializing in bombs and medium-range shooting
- Short bow, in light armor, effective for mid-range attack
- Battleaxe, in heavy armor, effective for control
- Longbow, in light armor, sniper of the game
- Dual blade, lightly armored, effective for assassination
- Nodachi, in medium armor, area-of-effect DPS.
It's worth noting that there are also three other seasonal classes: the hammer, the pike, and the dagger and chain. These are unlocked through seasonal quests. We'll come back to this point later.
Progress
Returning to your progress, it's important to know that Conqueror's Blade is a game that involves not only your hero but also the units he controls. You'll need to learn to play with your hero and these units simultaneously to be effective.
To help players understand the basic mechanics, the game will place you in lobbies initially filled with bots. Gradually, you'll be joined by a few human players, eventually progressing to full-scale battles of 15 vs. 15 with 1000 units on each side.
Use this learning time to choose a class relatively quickly so that you can focus on it because with the concepts of gear, skill etc. you will not be able to be optimized for each class.
If you absolutely want to play in lobbies with real players, you just need to team up with another person who has a level around 200 or more.
*rixmome* 200?! That's enormous!
Actually, no, level 200 isn't a very high level. To give you an idea, it took me 5 games to reach level 30.
Try, if possible, to play with a friend of a similar skill level to yours so you can discover it together.
To help you choose your class, I can tell you that at the time of writing this video, the meta classes are:
The hammer
The pole axe
The long sword
The musket
This doesn't mean that other classes aren't playable, but some require a minimum level of gear and/or skill to be effective in-game.
Hero Characteristics
Around level 35 you will unlock the hero's characteristics.
These attributes will allow you to increase, for example, your piercing damage with agility or your slashing and bludgeoning damage with strength, as well as your survivability with toughness and armor. Note that these attributes can be reset once a week for free, or via a renewal scroll obtainable through certain quests, Twitch drops, or with sovereigns, the game's premium currency.
Hero Technique
Let's now move on to your hero's techniques.
There are 8 techniques in total (6 basic and 2 ultimate), so you'll need to craft your build to reach a maximum of 4 techniques, knowing that you can only use one ultimate technique at a time (however, you have the option to choose no ultimate and therefore play with 4 classic skills).
Note that techniques have levels; naturally, the higher the skill level, the more effective it will be. To level up a technique, you'll need to participate in player-versus-player battles and thus earn mastery points. Once you've obtained the points, simply click on the next level to unlock it.
Hero Stuff
Now let's talk about the gear.
To access it, press P then select character. In the right-hand section you will find 5 slots.
1 for the weapon and 4 for the armor.
Each piece possesses a rarity.
Green / Blue / Purple or Gold. Of course, the higher the rarity rank of the piece, the better the fixed stats will be.
I specified 'fixed' because there's also a roll system that exists each time you try to craft a piece of armor or a weapon. So sometimes an item of lower rarity with good rolls can be better than a piece of higher rarity. Therefore, be sure to compare carefully.
Obtaining weapons and armor
We've finished with the generalities, but how do you obtain new armor or a new weapon?
The craft
First method to obtain stuff: crafting.
It's a fairly standard system; you'll need to gather materials and the corresponding blueprint. To find out what you need to give the blacksmith, it's simple: just go see him and select the weapon or armor you want to create. Once you have everything, just click 'craft' and you'll have your item.
Furthermore, a new system has been introduced: Reforging. This system will allow you to increase your base stats as well as your bonus stats and repair equipment that has lost its durability.
A quick word about durability management. You don't need to repair your gear until it reaches the 'worn out' state. Each repair decreases its maximum durability, prematurely reducing its lifespan. Repairing it when it turns yellow will extend its lifespan.
For more information on reforging, I refer you to the video on the subject.
Seasonal donations
Second method: seasonal donations.
So there's a donation system each season. This system allows you to obtain a full set of light, medium, and heavy armor, with each piece receiving an additional 8 influence.
To do this, simply go see the donation NPC and give him either the seasonal items intended for this purpose or the authorized items that are not useful to you.
Personally, I advise you to craft a complete set with the blue blue plan without worrying about stats at first, then obtain the armor through donations, and finally move on to optimizing your gear using the blue and purple plans.
Auction house
Third method: the auction house
Of course, the gear can be bought through the auction house with silver coins. As a new player, I don't recommend using this method, but at least you know it exists and that it's a sure way to level up for those who struggle to craft quality armor and weapons.
The runes
Let's quickly get back to the gear with the runes.
Runes are bonuses that can be attached to your equipment and can either increase certain stats or modify the behavior of certain skills. To learn more about how runes work, I'll direct you to the tutorial on the subject.
Optimize your progress
Gear is great, but first and foremost, you'll want to level up your character to unlock your attributes, skills, and new troops. To do this, it's important to check all the notifications on your interface to understand the objectives of the various quests.
*Rixmome* Hey ho there, I just want to play chill and not bother with this complicated interface.
Well, you have the right, we all have a different way of discovering the game and if you don't particularly want to optimize your progress, you do what you want.
Nevertheless, for those who are interested, here are a few details to help you understand what to prioritize for optimizing your progress:
Adventure quests, special side quests, and weekly quests can be accessed using the L key.
Seasonal quests can be accessed by pressing F5 and then selecting Seasonal Challenges. I might also recommend starting with Season 16 to collect the Onna and Oroshi, or Season 4, not for the units themselves, but rather for the Military Pledges and the Warrior's Song. These will allow you to obtain Expansion Permits as well as a free Tier 3 and Tier 4 unit in the unit tree.
Still in F5, go to the Weekly Challenges tab. These challenges will allow you to unlock a lot of Glory and progress through the Battle Pass.
There is also the progression pass and events that can be viewed by pressing O.
The rest is less important or does not concern your progress.
Hero's Command
Let's move on to the basic controls for your hero:
The default navigation key will be zqsd.
To run, press shift + one of the arrow keys.
To perform a dodge, press the directional key twice where you want to perform your dodge.
To interact with the various elements of the game (ladders, door opening systems, supply camp, you will need to press F)
During a classic siege you can hold down G either to place artillery or to request a trebuchet, knowing that the trebuchet is limited to 1 shot per person in a classic siege attack.
To call or dismount, press B
Right click to perform a parry for melee heroes or a white attack for ranged classes.
Mount
A few words about the mount: it obviously allows you to move faster, but it also grants access to new skills. Your mount also has armor, so it's a good idea to equip it as much as possible to avoid losing it.
There are several possible methods to obtain a mount.
- The first option is simply to go see the stableman and buy a new horse with bronze coins.
- The second method involves seasonal donations, which we discussed earlier in this tutorial. It's the same principle: make donations and reach the horse tier.
- Third method: Twitch drops. Indeed, at regular intervals, Twitch drops are organized by the CB community team. These drops sometimes allow you to win interesting horses simply by watching the official stream or various content creators. (I've included the official Discord link in the description so you can follow these events and some French content creators.)
Conqueror's Blade Interface
A quick note about the in-game interface. The red bar represents your hero's health. The white bar represents their stamina. Below that are your hero's four equipped skills, followed by their healing skill and equipped artillery. Further to the right, while mounted, you'll find your mount's health (outlined in red) and its stamina (in white).
When you parry, a shield appears. This shield is filled with white. This represents your remaining parry value. You can continue to parry as long as it's not empty. WARNING: if it runs out completely, you will be stunned for several seconds. Therefore, make sure you never run out of parry.
Camera setup
Let's talk a bit about the settings. By default, your camera is in cinematic mode. This close-up view isn't optimized for gathering information and reacting. Personally, I recommend switching to the normal camera and moving the character's viewpoint further back. This allows you to see more and react more easily to threats.
To change this setting, press Esc, then Camera, and select Normal Mode.
The second important setting is the animations for ultimate abilities like assassination or battle axe. While they have a certain aesthetic appeal, these animations obstruct your field of view and serve no purpose. I therefore recommend disabling them. This can be done in the camera menu under kill cam.
Take the information
Let's now move on to one of the most important aspects of Conqueror's Blade: information gathering. Directly on the minimap or by pressing Tab, you'll have access to a wealth of information, including the current positions of your allies and visible enemies.
*rixmome* Why do you specify 'visible'?
Well, I specify visible because enemies that are not in the field of vision of an allied unit or hero do not appear on the map.
*Karhlor* But what is the point of having this information?
So, for example, if you spot a large number of enemies firmly entrenched in one area, it might be wise to move to a less defended zone. Similarly, if your allies have many ranged units, it might be more strategic to deploy infantry.
And to make this reasoning, you need as much information as possible.
To complement a quick analysis via the map you can also press W to get a more complete view taking into account the topology of the terrain.
This can be important, for example, to spot artillery pieces that are being landed or have already been landed.
Another useful method for gathering information is to deploy a mortar and fire a wide arc. Once the shot is fired, press W to track the trajectory, which will allow you to identify enemy formations and artillery positions.
Speaking of artillery, if you would like to know more, I have also included the tutorial dedicated to this topic in the description and somewhere on the screen.
Communication
Make calls
Great, you've grasped the important information. However, remember that Conqueror's Blade is a team game. To communicate with your allies, you have several options.
The first one is that you're in voice chat. In that case, there's no problem, you just need to speak.
Second method: pings. Indeed, when you play in siege mode, with many players, it becomes difficult to communicate effectively via chat.
You can use different types of pings to express your intentions. For example, if all players are positioned in waiting areas, using an 'attack' ping could trigger the group advance initiative. If you spot, either on the map or visually, cavalry flanking enemy lines, you can use an 'attention' ping to alert your teammates to an imminent threat from the rear.
In addition, there is another type of ping: the mouse wheel click. The advantage is that it allows you to know exactly which unit is in front of you, and it allows your allies to indicate a potentially important unit.
The third method is chat. While difficult to use, this method allows for greater clarity during downtime. For example, after a ping saying 'gather,' you can add 'push in 10 minutes.' This indicates that the push will be sent in a certain timeframe, allowing for synchronization and greater efficiency. That's the end of this article, I hope you enjoyed it.
