Conqueror's blade : Wuxing Pikemen - Cleanse by fire

In this video we’re going to talk about a rather unique infantry unit that is very interesting, especially against rattans. I present to you the Wuxing Pikemen!

Let’s start with how to obtain them.
The Wuxing Pikemen can be unlocked through the Season 14 Eternal challenges. You will need to complete the Wuxing Pikemen challenges.
Once you have acquired the Wuxing Pikemen, there are several points to go over.

Let’s talk about veterancy

The bottom line is more focused on the unit’s support aspect, as it reduces enemy defenses by 200 points, allowing your allies to deal more damage.
The increased unit count allows you, through the Explosive Breath skill, to apply the debuff to more enemy models and therefore contribute better to team play.
As for the top line, it focuses more on the unit’s individual performance by globally increasing the damage of the Wuxing Breath.

Personally, I recommend the bottom line to support your allies as much as possible AND allow you to cast Explosive Breath more often to destroy units that are not fireproof.

Regarding doctrines

I recommend using the Polearm Doctrine III, which will unlock the charge and therefore give you better mobility.
Personally, I like to use the Toughness doctrine as well as the 5% damage reduction doctrine. On top of that, you can add doctrines that increase damage to units and possibly to heroes.
You can also use the unit doctrine or other more standard damage doctrines.

Let’s move on to masteries



The Wuxing Pikemen also have an important mastery that increases their overall stats but, more importantly, for the Ascension Spark node, increases the range and damage of Explosive Breath by 20% as well as the chance to set a unit on fire.
In addition, the Frontier Guards’ Determination node ensures that, regardless of the target unit’s stats, you will deal at least 50% of the unit’s damage. This means that even if you attack an Iron Reaper with the best possible resistances, you will still deal significant damage.
That’s it for customizing the Wuxing Pikemen, now let’s move on to their uses.

Overall, the Wuxing enters the fight as a second wave.
This means the Wuxing lets shields and other frontline units engage first, then moves into contact to use Skill 2 and apply its debuff to the enemy blob.
After the 2 fire animations, which take about 2 seconds, you can activate Skill 1, which will perform 3 area attacks over the next 3 seconds.
Specific case: if units such as Viper Pike or Shielded Infantry come from the side or back of your pack, you can engage them using Skill 2, as a reminder that Rattans are vulnerable to fire damage.
We’ve discussed the general role of the Wuxing, but let’s take a closer look at the different skills to better understand their uses.

Let’s talk about formations. The Wuxing Pikemen have 1 formation.The scattered formation, which allows them to cover more ground. Since there is only one formation, there isn’t really any strategic choice at this level.

Quick overview of the passives. The Wuxing Pikemen have 2 passives. The first, Area Effect: the unit’s skills deal area damage, making them more effective against large enemy groups. Once again, this is very useful, for example at the end of a battle to clean up units such as Rattans.
Second passive, Swamp. This passive gives you advantages against cavalry, increasing damage dealt to cavalry by 26% and applying a 45% slow to cavalry. Be careful though: despite this passive, the unit is not anti-cavalry and will disappear very quickly if you have to face cavalry head-on.
