Hi my zoulous and welcome to this new article. In this article we’re going to talk about the 10 common mistakes made by new players that can slow down their progression.
Ignoring Neutral Monsters
In Spellcaster Chronicle, monsters appear at regular intervals in the jungle.
Farming these mobs allows you to gain experience, which for example speeds up the increase of your maximum population or the unlocking of higher tier spells.
Additionally, depending on the type of camp, you will receive charges that drop. These charges allow you to recharge your summons, letting you summon more units in a short period of time or use your skills more frequently.
Another important point on the same topic: bosses. When the timer reaches 17 minutes, a boss appears.
Once defeated, it grants a large amount of experience and brings you significantly closer to summoning a Titan.
Ignoring this objective means at best missing out on an advantage, and at worst giving the enemy a huge advantage that could swing the game. Once the boss is killed, the respawn timer is 5 minutes.
Not Using Map Chests
Chests appear throughout the match. They allow you to obtain a spell with a rank corresponding to the chest color: green, purple, or gold.
It is very important to collect them because they can allow you to obtain T1 units, infuse your units or buildings, or summon units missing from your build.
This is a very significant advantage, so I strongly recommend paying attention to announcements when chests appear.
Using Your Environment
On each map, there are interactions possible with various environmental elements.
For example, on the Mausoleum map you can destroy the bridge in the middle, killing units on it and also forcing large units to retreat because they no longer have a path forward. This environment can also be used to your advantage in duels against other spellcasters, for example by dodging certain attacks.
Staying on Your Lane
At the start of the game, it’s quite common for players to stay on their lane without rotating.
As a player, you should watch your minimap as much as possible to take action where it’s needed. This is even more important if you’re playing in a group.
For example, if you play the Stone Shaman, it can be very useful to apply your healing effect to your team’s forward bases to support them.
Likewise, if the enemy build counters your deck, it might be worth switching lanes if possible.
It can also be useful if you have Earthquake to go destroy buildings that block your or your allies’ advance. There are many situations where rotating lanes is beneficial. In general, gather information and don’t hesitate to move.
Forgetting to Pick Up Ground XP
When you kill an enemy unit or building, a purple glow appears representing the experience dropped.
The larger the glow, the more experience it contains. A common beginner mistake is killing monsters but not actually collecting the XP, or even letting enemy players steal it.
Since your spellcaster’s level is very important, you must pay attention to your surroundings. If an enemy hero might steal your XP, focus on collecting it even if it means not killing all the mobs or retreating if necessary.
Also, don’t hesitate to steal XP yourself if the enemy leaves it behind.
Additional tip: when a life stone (yours or your enemy’s) is destroyed, a large purple glow spawns.
Collecting it grants a large amount of experience.
Infusion
You have the ability to buff your units and buildings. The buff depends on the type of infusion.
There are:
- Fire, which increases unit damage and sets targets on fire
- Ice, which increases defense and freezes enemies
- Lightning, which increases movement speed and deals area damage
- Poison, which improves health regeneration and poisons enemies
Infusing a unit is very simple: take an elemental spell, for example Poison Breath, and cast it on your unit. You will see a visual effect building up until a small explosion appears. Once the explosion occurs, your unit is infused.
Note that the higher the tier of your unit, the longer the infusion takes.
The Conquest Banner
When an enemy Titan dies, it drops a Conquest Banner. Many players make the mistake of ignoring it or not knowing what it does.
In fact, the banner simply allows you to instantly capture an enemy base when activated. This is extremely powerful strategically and should definitely be used! However, buildings that were summoned before the capture will remain and must still be destroyed.
Movement
In Spellcaster, you have the ability to fly, which often leads to dynamic aerial fights.
Sometimes new players stay too static when escaping or during duels. Don’t hesitate to make random movements to make it harder for your opponent to hit you.
Press Ctrl to descend quickly or Space to rise quickly.
Capture XP
When you capture a base, you gain additional XP if you are inside the capture circle at the moment the base is captured.
The amount of XP is significant, so try to take advantage of it as much as possible.
Ignoring Hero Passives and Skills
Your hero has passives and skills that can influence certain cards or tiers. An optimized build must take these specifics into account.
